A relatively new name in the home warranty market, First Premier Home Warranty offers reasonable rates comparable to many of its competitors. They also offer free two months for every plan which is a good deal for those on a budget. The basic plan called Premier covers a good variety of systems and appliances and you always have the option to add extra items or upgrade the plan completely.

Warranty Plans

First Premier offers only two home protection plans – the Premier plan and the Premier Platinum plan. The Premier is a basic plan that covers 15 types of systems and appliances. The Premier Platinum expands on this range by adding five items to the coverage. There are also add-ons that you can get for an additional cost.

Add-ons:

• Standalone Freezer
• Refrigerator Ice Maker
• Water Softener
• Freestanding Ice Maker
• Central Vacuum
• Pool / Spa
• Additional Spa
• Well Pump
• Sump Pump
• Septic Pumping

The website does not provide detailed information on the terms of their plans. Upon inquiry with First Premier, we found that they do not cover cosmetic repairs including shelves, knobs, and doors as well as routine maintenance.

Warranty Plan Prices

First Premier’s home protection plans are a bit more affordable than its competitors. Their annual premium averages at $420 and their service call fee falls at $60. If you choose the more premium plan, the annual premium average will increase to $540. Additional items not covered by the standard plans would also raise the cost.

How to submit a service claim?

Service claims can be submitted through their website or by phone with channels both available 24/7. A service technician will be assigned to handle the claim within 24 to 48 hours of submission. They do have a payout limit of $1,500 which means repairs will be covered up to this amount. After a successful repair, you have a 30-day guarantee on the labor and a 90-day guarantee on the parts used. If the service is unsatisfactory or the item breaks down within such a period, you can get the repair done again.

Is it a legitimate company?

Given that it’s a newer company, First Premier has not accumulated as many TrustPilot or ConsumerAffairs reviews as its competitors. The feedback they received, however, is mostly positive. They have 5-star reviews on ConsumerAffairs and Excellent ratings on TrustPilot. Is Better Business Bureau page received a 3.8 out of 5 rating? The nines complaints regarding difficulty with the claims process were all resolved.

Customer Support

The customer helpline is available via email or phone any time of the day. They responded quickly via email with only one hour of response time. Their website also has a blog section where you can find articles on home warranties and home maintenance. However, the website also lacks information on the services they offer. You’ll need to reach out to their team to get a hold of a sample contract.

First Premier Home Warranty Vs. Competitors

As mentioned earlier, First Premier offers slightly lower rates than their competitors. Below is a quick comparison between First Premier and other home warranty providers.

First Premier’s service call fee is similar to InHome Warranty. HomeServe USA offers more plans which cover different appliances and systems as well as a combination of essential items. Homeowners who want a more customized plan may find better rates with HomeServe. Select Home Warranty is a more expensive provider in comparison to First Premier both in terms of premium and service call fees. Both offer free months of coverage but Select also has a $150 discount when you pay for the plan on an annual basis. Still, First Premier’s rates may offer a more affordable plan as a whole.

Bottom Line

Although it’s a relatively new name, First Premier Home Warranty is starting to accumulate a collection of excellent feedback on different consumer websites. They offer more affordable rates compared to many other providers as well as two months free upon purchase. They only have two plans offered but homeowners can choose from several optional items that they can add to their plan.

Their network of contractors is smaller than other providers. They have a 30-day guarantee on labor and a 90-day guarantee on parts which allows homeowners to have confidence in the service. Homeowners who are interested in their plans should reach out to their support team since the website has limited information.
